Music Production Lessons
As a teacher, I strive to connect with my students–sharing my passion for the electronic music and music technology to keep them engaged, excited, and motivated to get better. My goal is to create a relaxed but productive atmosphere where students can explore the aspects of music production that excites them the most in addition to learning the common software, hardware, and techniques involved in music and audio production.
I am most skilled and comfortable teaching the following genres, though I also have a strong ability to quickly analyze the defining characteristics of most any style and distill that down into easy to understand concepts, techniques, and exercises for students:
Rock
EDM
Pop
Progressive
Funk
Classical
Country/Bluegrass
Jazz
Folk
Experimental
All ages and skill levels are welcome!
I offer a FREE online video consultation before we get started so we can get to know each other, discuss your musical goals, and go over logistics. After that, lessons are prepaid at the beginning of each calendar month. I am available for lessons online primarily via Zoom (or Google Meet), as well as in-person out of the ToneBloom Studio at my home in Garland, TX.
Lessons in your home may also be possible for an additional driving/time charge, though I only have a small number of those spots available due to the complexity of my schedule. My primary service areas for these are North/Northeast Dallas, Uptown/Downtown, Park Cities, East Dallas, Richardson, and Garland. If you live outside of this area and would like to schedule in-home lessons, please contact me to discuss feasibility.
Lessons may cover any of the following topics:
Recording, Editing, Mixing, Mastering
Using DAWs such as Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, GarageBand, Reason, and more
Understanding MIDI
Creating Beats & Loops
Composing/Songwriting
Music Theory
Troubleshooting technical issues
How Analog/Digital Audio works
Signal & Effects Processing/Plug-Ins
Synthesis/Synthesizers
Sound Design
Signal Path
Workflow and Session/File Organization
Interactive Music Programming (Max/MSP and Max for Live)
Any other areas of student interest
